Data You Choose to Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. We do not keep a separate search-history copy on our servers. If you contact us, we receive only the information you elect to include and use it to respond.
Data Collected Automatically
Routine hosting logs can capture an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use combined log information to maintain the service and understand which resources visitors use. Where enabled, cookies or similar tools may support basic traffic analytics and advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
The limited information described in this policy helps us operate the site, find technical problems, measure traffic, and refine content. We do not sell lists of visitors or build personal profiles of readers.
Linked Services Have Separate Policies
Government portals, San Luis Obispo County and California agencies, library collections, and outside search services follow their own privacy policies. The operator of a linked service controls information submitted there. This separation also applies to sponsored results furnished by another provider.
Service Providers and Disclosures
Hosting and technical-support providers may process server logs on our behalf. Analytics or advertising services may receive the automatically collected data described above. We may also disclose information when required by valid legal process, but we do not otherwise distribute visitor data.
Safeguarding Visitor Data
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only as long as necessary for the purposes stated here. Visitors do not create accounts, so we do not hold reader passwords or account profiles.
Visitors Under Age 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Contact us if you believe a minor submitted personal data, and we will remove it.
Your California Privacy Rights
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, is codified at Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq. When the law applies, eligible California consumers may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete covered personal data; opt out of its sale or sharing; limit certain uses of sensitive data; and receive service without discrimination for exercising those rights. The right available depends on the business and the request. Because we retain little information, a request will usually concern contact messages or server logs. Send a request through the Contact page. San Luis Obispo County and California agencies control their own official records, so requests involving those records must go to the responsible custodian. Access to agency records is governed separately by the California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 et seq.
Changes to This Policy
Any updated version will be posted here. Using San Luis Obispo County People Search after a revision takes effect means that you accept the revised policy.
